Captains Corner

9/4/09

Well ladies and gentleman, the team has done it again. Against the odds and again with great spirit and team work we have once again prevailed and are still holding on to top spot. What a great performance it was against the Grasshoppers, it got a bit niggly at times but we held it together and held on for a 2 -2 draw. It makes me proud as your captain to be part of such a great team.

I know in the last couple of weeks I’ve been throwing around the adjectives Passion and Respect, but it is these two factors that have defined our performances this season. I must say that one Tim Gray embodied those words in his on field performance the other night; in fact I don’t think I have seen him play that well in a while. The way Mr Gray was able to find the ball and make those crucial tackles was inspiring and it most certainly seemed to lift the team at those critical moments in a match when you need someone to step up.

Our next game against the young guns Rambo CAT is one that we must approach with caution and should not get complacent about. I know we have a well deserved two week break ahead of us, but we need to keep our eyes on the prize so to speak and not forget that we are a very capable team. Rambo has had a couple of good wins this season and I know that nothing would please them more than downing the mighty Racing Guantanamo. We need to keep this in the backs of our minds and remain focussed on the ultimate goal of winning the title. It may be a bit premature (I have been known to suffer from premature celebration) to be talking about the title but WE CAN DO IT and we must believe that.

This brings me to my next point that I want us to concentrate on. We need to Focus and keep things in perspective. By maintaining Focus like we have been has got us to where we are today and will continue to hold us in good stead for the future. It is these three things Passion, Respect and Focus that will become the backbone of our club and we must live and play by this ethos.

To finish with I would like to wish every bunny a hoppy easter and I would also like to thank Mr Mark Hunter for his sublime efforts in goal and his inspirational leadership from the back. On behalf of the club I would like to wish him and Lee all the best on their travels and that we may have the pleasure of his goal keeping skills again in the future. All the best friends, families, fans and team mates Crudus Orange Pro Exercitus.

Keep Kicking Goals
