Captains Corner

Well folks, I know this instalment of Captains Corner is a bit late in coming but the Guantanamo think tank has been in lock down over the past few days, discussing tactics about Wednesday’s big game against Sanga. This game is by far the biggest in club history as we only need to draw in order to set ourselves up for a final week show down against Razzle Dazzle and then dare I say it, THE TITLE!

Never before in Guantanamo history have we been in a better situation to win the league and it will take all of our steely resolve to do this. Last Wednesday saw the triumphant return of ‘The Rock’, Francois Kruger, who pulled off some terrific saves to deny the feisty Rambo CAT captain Mike Doyle of the victory that he so badly wanted. If ‘The Rock’ can hold it together as well as he did in that game, then I believe that we can hold our own against Sanga.

We also can’t forget the efforts of our star forwards Raiko and Kessler who have both been in a goal scoring frenzy over the last few weeks, surely their golden boots can kick us to victory. Although we will be missing our two star midfielders Tim Gray and Danny Pinchas for this match everyone else needs to step up and give 110% so that we can pull off the win of the season. I am asking for a special effort from all players against Sanga, we must all bleed orange for the team to ensure that we make history.

This game is going to require a different mind set than the previous games, we must avoid the under dog tag and go in confident that we can remain the best team in the Broome des - Liga.

1. We are undefeated and are sitting on top of the league
2. We are the team everyone wants to beat
3. We deserve to be in this situation
4. If any team can pull it off it is the mighty Racing Guantanamo

On Wednesday night we cannot let Sanga dictate terms, we need to take the game to them and play at our own pace. Lets keep doing all the good things that we have been doing; maintaining possession, solid passing, tight marking, team work and most importantly enjoying ourselves. This is it fellas, in the words of 80’s big hair super group Europe …”It’s the Final Countdown… doodle – oo – doo – doodle – oot – doo – doo …(and so on)”. Remember we are Racing Guantanamo, we deserve to be on top of the B-Liga and it is because of the players, the fans and our determination that we have been able to achieve all that we have this season, Crudus Orange Pro Exercitus.
