Captains Corner

11/5/09

Well friends, fans and players what can I say about the last game against Jimmy Asima… I mean SANGA. We were out played, out classed and out done by the better team. I don’t think we should look at our 10 – 2 loss as all doom and gloom as we were missing three players who have been crucial to our success; Danny Pinchas (work commitments), Tim Gray (calf injury), Kane Fitzpatrick (chick pulling). I am sure that if our team was at full strength, we would have achieved a much more palatable result.

There is no question that on the night SANGA were the better side and it is useless to try and find excuses or reasons as to why we lost. At the end of the day we weren’t good enough, so we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and refocus on our next challenge… beating the Razzle Dazzle Royals.

We are in the dangerous position of undoing all our good work right at the end of the season so we need to at least draw against RDR in order to maintain third spot on the ladder, If we lose we get fourth. If we win and win well then we will get second, its simple Mathematics my friends.

What I want everyone to do is to forget about the last week and think about all the good things we have achieved this season. If someone had of said to me at the start of the year that we would be finishing in the top four I would have taken it. At least we have stuck it to the bookmakers who rated us as 1000:1 rank outsiders. Racing Guantanamo are no longer the easy beats of the B-Liga, we have earned the respect of the competition, the fans and the officials this season and have been genuinely feared by our opposition.

Our performance this season has created a solid foundation for Racing Guantanamo’s future and the challenge this week is to put the final layer on the cake. A win this week ladies and gentleman will end the season nicely and give us much to look forward to for the outdoor comp.

So what I’m asking for this week, is that everyone holds their heads high, puffs out their chests and walks tall for Guantanamo. Lets finish off the indoor season with a win so that me, Ryan, Francois and Tim can give Ken Goatley a hard time and give him the worst birthday present ever. As always Crudus Orange Pro Exercitus.

Keep kicking goals
