Captains Corner

Well I’m back again and I think it just keeps getting later and later each time I post my thoughts.
But that all aside, the last two weeks have been a buzz with activity down at Guantanamo HQ. We had some exciting news early in the week when we were notified by the suits from BSA, informing us that we have been nominated for Broome Sports Club of the Year. Adding to the excitement was the news that Luke Turner (the 2008 Kimberley Footballer of the year) was being nominated for the Rising Star Award. There is no doubt that talent scouts from all over the Kimberley will eagerly be watching the development of our young star.
Down to the real business, it has been great to see the boys getting down to training regularly and having a good run. Although we lost to Pearl Coast, there is no doubt that the little training we had done, had brought about a huge improvement from the last couple of weeks. Boys, when we play as a team, we can produce some really good football. The hope is that all this training will give us back some confidence as we attempt to claw our way off the bottom of the ladder.
Wednesday night is a must win game, Doyle is out and Hagan’s are vulnerable. With another good team show, we can take it to Hagan’s and hopefully produce another cracking result like we did last time. The last few weeks have taught us to stand up in the face of adversity and from here we need to build confidence and then momentum. Unfortunately I think the end of the season will beat us, but we must carry that Guantanamo spirit and momentum through into next year. It’s time to refocus gentleman…
As Always,
