Guantanamo March on to top half

Wednesday, 21st April 2010

It has been a few weeks that there has not been a match report as there have been a switch behind the scenes at orange headquarters. Captain Andy Smyth is to now concentrate on planning an assault on the indoor and outdoor premierships with both Racing and Sporting. The orange camp has been buzzing with confidence after match winning games throughout the competition to date and Wednesday nights games no different with dominant displays by both Racing and Sporting leading into the finals.

Sporting Guantanamo Report

Sporting Guantanamo were up against premiership dreamers Cardiff but they were still dreaming at the prospect of a determined sporting outfit and half their team never showed. Showing grace and a warm heart captain Andy took off his Guantanamo shirt and played for the opposition in a spirited sign of sportsmanship that only a man in orange can do. A scratch match was the outcome and sporting grabbed the 3 points on forfeit. A match that was dominated by sportings forwards Luke “gun” Turner,  Martin “Hamish” Whittaker and Thank “speedy” U Tan Cardiff were left aghast, with solid defence by Tim “the bearded one” Gray and Chris “the other bearded one” Hingston and sound goalkeeping by Seby “gloves” Parasiliti. This scratch match was a great way to warm into the season end. Other displays of power and prowess were from the ever improving Terry “reggae” Ragoonanan snapping up good match day time. This was a game of a much improved side as their hopes of a premiership gained momentum.

Racing Guantanamo Report

In the other match Racing were up against cellar dwellers Jiminies and the mighty orange outfit were powerful up front with Raiko “twinkle toes” Kiudmaa and Martin “fritz” Kessler showing no signs of the three week lay off running rampant on goal leaving the keeper wondering whether he should have turned up. Also one of the goals of the year by “fritz”, a volley shot from outside the keepers circle sent Racing fans into a frenzy late into the second half. With Ben “why are’nt the goals bigger” Jones peppering the goal face aswell with no success it left the big forward looking skyward for divine intervention. Some defensive lapses left Orange Gaz seething at times which prompted Ryan “man up” Platten to rally his troops at half time. This sparked Reno “here I am” Kurg into some positive runs up forward and the defence tightened to see off  any offensive press by the opposition, overall a compelling 18-4 win against weak opposition but a needed warm up game leading into next weeks top of the table clash.
