Stability the Key for 2010 Monday, 23rd August 2010 On Wednesday, Racing Guantanamowill kick off new Broome Soccer Association season by entering a squad in the annual B-Liga competition. Last season the club suffered a setback and finished last on the league table, but refusing to ring the alarm bells, captain Andy Smyth has not made any major changes to the squad. The main make-up of the team has not changed, with the only major losses being that of Luke Turner, who left for Perth in the off-season, while Francois Kruger and Danny Pinchas have both retired. In comes Rob Viskovich, whom B-Liga fans will remember from his stint with Broome City in 2007, Archie Card, and former Guantanamo youth product Jackson Cordingley, who has re-signed with the Mighty Orange. Selwyn Taylor also joins from Pearl Coast Pirates, while Nicky Anear re-signs with the club after a season at NDFC. With the spine of the teams strengthened, and some much added speed and fitness added, look for Guantanamo to make 2010 the year they truly make their mark on the landscape of Broome soccer. In: Rob Viskovich (Perth), Archie Card (Alaska), Nicky Anear (NDFC), Selwyn Taylor (Pearl Coast Pirates), Jackson Cordingley (NDFC) Out: Luke Turner (Perth), Francois Kruger (Retired), Danny Pinchas (Retired)
